Ketama Man has been collecting and playing jamaican music for over two decades. he started out as an mc or rather dj as they would say in jamaica, late 90’s. with so much stage experience on the mic and decks ketama man knows exactly what to do and how to do it. playing vinyl only sets, with the usage of custom dub sirens, he specializes in reggae, dub, rub a dub and (early) dancehall. true dedication to keep pushing this sound by a true selector / dj, seen?!
Joss & Flo selecting are selectors in the original meaning of the word.
the word derives from the member of the jamaican soundsystem who chose the riddims on which the dj spat lyrics. within the realm of the original ‘selectors’ they operate, playing various styles of reggae – dub, lover’s rock, roots and rocksteady.
while their preferred riddims are as strong and steady as rock, their favorite lyrics can be uplifting, sweet and positive.
the riddims and vocals are the vehicle – the goal is, consciousness, good vibes & love
Raised in the South Island of New Zealand in the backcountry of the Southern Lakes. Alex grew up frolicking through the fields surrounded by nature, never without a pet lamb or chicken by her side. With an education from The Culinary Institute of New Zealand and a silver medal from Toque d’Or competition she went on to travel the world working in fine dining kitchens, learning about flavours, ingredients and cooking methods from anyone willing to teach her. Amsterdam is now where she calls home.
The joy of sharing food and nourishing the body is one of the drives behind AiW. And Alex cooks just like that - with whole, organic ingredients packed with as many nutrients, colours and delicious flavours as possible.
With her focus to create a regenerative food system, Alex sources all fresh produce in season and their dry store is almost plastic free.
The kitchen which is run by women and we’re actively creating a safe(r) space for all minorities and the LGBTQ+ community.Making changes to this flawed industry is a challenge but one which Alexandra is dedicated to.
