09-09: this session's theme is tricontinentalism.

in January 1966, on the seventh anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, Havana hosted the First Solidarity Conference of the Peoples for Africa, Asia, and Latin America, a vital turning point in the anti-imperialist and anticolonial global struggle. 
the Tricontinental Conference brought together 82 delegations from three continents, promoting global south unity, creating OPSAAL to coordinate anti-imperialist solidarity worldwide, rejecting US hegemony, and uplifting armed struggle as a strategy. our next Reading Counterpower session will include analysis, as well extracts from archival speeches and outcomes of the conference, to deepen our understanding of this important historical moment, and reflect on what it can teach us in our ongoing struggles to realize a world without imperialism.
